The Rise of the Female Entrepreneur

Women mean business.

Hundreds of thousands of new companies are started every year. But did you know women now start half of these?

The rate at which women are starting businesses in the UK is on the rise. And this continues to increase year on year.

This is excellent news for gender equality, the economy and our next generation.

For whatever reason a woman decides to set up in business, the younger generation is seeing their mother, aunt or sister, really doing it for themselves.

Turning a Passion into a Profit

With advances in technology and cloud-based solutions, the way we do business has changed.

We no longer need to waste time trudging to meetings or waste money on a physical office space. Instead, many businesses are choosing to work remotely and not to be restricted by the 9-5.

With websites acting as shop windows, online networking and digital connectivity, it’s never been easier to market and promote your products or services.

This flexibility has given many women the freedom to pursue a passion and turn it into a profitable business while still managing the commitments of family life.

The Best of Both Worlds

The rise of the female entrepreneur is probably due to working-age women wanting to create the best work/life balance they possibly can. And being the boss is a great way to achieve this.

Women are starting to refuse to be restricted.

Why should they have to choose motherhood over a successful business? Or choose the rewards of doing something they love over the rewards of a family?

Women are increasingly doing both – and doing them both well.

As anyone who has done it will tell you, it’s by no means the easy option. Setting up in business requires a lot of hard work and commitment. But the sense of achievement and self-satisfaction it gives is well worth the late nights and early mornings.

So, what are you waiting for?

Got a passion you’d like to pursue? Seen a gap in the market? Or have a brilliant business idea? Go for it.

Don’t worry about failing a few times. Readjust and adapt.

Be confident; you are a woman!
